Turkey Meatballs

A lovely and delicious turkey meatballs recipe :)

(4 servings)

You’ll Need

  • 450 g ground turkey

  • 3/4 cup plain breadcrumbs

  • 5 eggs

  • 1/2 large onion, finely chopped

  • 2-3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1/4 cup grated Pecorino Romano or Parmesan

  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano

  • 1/2 tsp dried basil (optional)

  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes or chilli powder (to taste)

  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)

  • 400 g can peeled tomatoes (for the sauce)

  • Olive oil (for frying / searing)

Steps

  • For the mixture: In a large bowl, mix breadcrumbs, eggs, onion, garlic, parsley, cheese, and herbs.

  • Add turkey: Gently fold in the turkey. Try not to over mix to keep meatballs tender.

  • Form balls: Shape into small ball-size meatballs. Add a little more breadcrumbs if the mixture feels too wet.

  • Brown meatballs: Heat olive oil in a skillet and fry meatballs in batches until browned (not fully cooked).

  • Sauce: Crush the peeled tomatoes in a pot. Season with salt and pepper.

  • Simmer: Add meatballs to the sauce and simmer gently (on low-medium heat) for 30–40 minutes until cooked through.

  • Serve: Sprinkle with extra cheese and parsley. You can serve with pasta or crusty bread :)
